The last episode of Game of thrones airing Sunday night on HBO, and millions of people will watch it despite the difficulties of the last season. Millions more will be late for work because, let's face it, this is the biggest TV show ever.

I just saw it and I can say that it's about as satisfying as you would like it from the finale of a series that has kept us on the edge of our almost decade seats. That does not mean it was perfect – no series final has ever been – but it certainly forced us to end this gigantic story, which leaves us wondering where things are going to be in Westeros . Mind you, spoilers will obviously follow below so stop reading if you want to be surprised.
From the moment David Benioff and D.B. Weiss's story left the books behind, it became more and more clear that some (most?) Magic would be lost. It is one thing to rely on the complex story of George R.R. Martin and another to reconcile as and when Martin contributes to the final. After all, Benioff and Weiss said for a while that they knew exactly where the story was going and that they still had a plan to finish the show.
Some fans will not be happy with the way things are ending, the arcs of their favorite characters, or the way viewers have behaved this season. I have already said it and the feeling is still there. Looks like we are sprinting through this series, because many moments deserve more time on the screen. And we still have so many things that challenge the logic for the sake of history. But we only have to forgive Benioff and Weiss, given the end of things.
Before you explain how things end for each of the main characters, I'll explain why the ending is so great. This leaves things open to the imagination. There is no happy or sad ending here; it's just life in the seven kingdoms. Let us not forget that each generation seems to be experiencing its period of conflict, followed by a period of peace and prosperity. The generation of Ned and Robert had to face war, bloodshed, shocking secrets and a heartbreak. Nothing changes for the generation of Jon, Sansa and Dany. With the old as for the new, as they say, the same throne game will always be played. It is only the elements of the painting that change and winter always comes to Westeros. Of course, we have dragons now, as long as it lasts, but Westeros has already witnessed these magical creatures.
The dynamics of Jon Snow and Daenerys are so much fun to watch. Arya may be a dangerous opponent, but Sansa is just as fierce. She may just as well be the smartest person that has stayed alive in the North, and you can tell that she has learned a lot from everything she has had to go through to get home and lead her people. Even from Littlefinger, the kind of Game of thrones we will certainly miss it.
Sansa's brother, Bran, has arrived at a place where he could be of great help to his brothers and sisters, knowing that he is able to get into everything that moves and to testify to everything that happened. in the past. It's an invaluable resource, the kind of Google-of-Westeros that any leader might need. He might also be the perfect leader for the Seven Kingdoms, though three-eyed crows should not really do that. If you associate Bran with Sam, you have a pair of counselors who have everything you need to understand the current situation in Westeros. The two of them could explain exactly why the current conflict is so misinterpreted and explain it in layman's terms in simple terms to everyone in the world, from the noble to the farmer. Bran and Sam could indeed pave the way for a lasting peace, although they are only speculations, considering the end of the final.
Apart from Tyrion, the family name Lannister could be condemned, although we can all wonder what will happen next. Cersei lied to everyone, including Jaime, when she promised her armies to fight the king of the night, which we should have seen coming and who would come to haunt her. Jaime's decision to head north, even if it meant going there alone to face a group of people who wanted him dead, was a huge step forward for the character, who would eventually have been able to redeem himself after all.
Finally, there is the arrival of the night king to the wall and the complete destruction of the defenses of the Guard. Just wow! By the way, did Tormund and Beric survive all this chaos? We can never know.
The King of the Night finally moves south, riding a dragon and leading one of the greatest armies the Seven Kingdoms have ever seen. The coming battle between the dead and the living will be epic and catastrophic, and if there is one thing that grieves me in the finale, it is that we will never be able to see this battle unfold. Game of thrones has already delivered two epic battles, including Hardhome and the Battle of the Bastards, and the only thing that could surpass these clashes is a fight against the king of the night and his ghosts.
But that's the beauty of the Game of thrones final. We can never see this battle or how the dragons will fight it. We will never see how Jon will discover that he is the true heir to the throne, nor how much this revelation will have on his relationship with Dany and the Stark children. We never see the Cleganebowl that we have been promised but we do not really need. We will never see who kills Cersei or if she actually dies in the next clash. And we will never know who will take the iron throne at the end. Everything is left to our imagination, and that's why HBO's glorious conclusion to Game of thrones Season 7, which happens to be the last episode of the series, is really amazing. After all, no matter how all these characters deal with their demons, they are all evolving pieces on a Game of Thrones board that never change.
