This is what the iPhone 13 lineup will look like

Apple’s 2021 iPhone models aren’t expected to launch until September, but thanks to rumors, CAD drawings, and renderings, we already know what to expect. Models are now circulating, and we got our hands on a gift box MacRumors Readers a glimpse of the leaks we’ve been seeing for months now.

We have dummy models of iPhone 13, iPhone 13‌ mini, ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro, and ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro Max, and mockups like these are often created for case makers. It’s a lot of money being the first to release a case for a new device, with dummy models created based on specs and details leaked from Apple’s manufacturing partners.

In our experience, dummy models are more often than not accurate and are generally reliable representations of new devices that Apple plans to launch. These dummy models in particular seem to match many of the rumors we’ve heard about new iPhones. That said, it’s still possible that some of these tweaks and design changes will be turned off.

We don’t expect any major design changes this year, and the dummy models look like the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max, which come in the same sizes. We can see very small differences in thickness in some of the models, but for the most part, the iPhone 13 gamme line will look a lot like the ‌iPhone 12 gamme line.

Apple is rumored to be reducing the size of the notch in the ‌iPhone 13‌ lineup and changes are noticeable on the dummy model. The microphone has been moved to the upper bezel of the device, which is perhaps the design change that will allow for a thinner front camera module. Dummy models are designed for case makers and don’t have a precise display setup that demonstrates the notch size, so we have to rely on rumors for that.

The general design of the body may be the same, but it are notable changes to some of the camera models. Apple is introducing new camera features, such as Sensor Shift Stabilization in the ‌iPhone 13‌ lineup as well as improvements for the iPhone 13‌ Pro, so the rear camera configurations of these dummy models are not identical to the ‌iPhone 12‌ range.

Apple aligns the iPhone 13‌ Pro with the ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro Max, so the camera bump is much larger than the ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ camera bump. It is comparable in size to the camera bump of the iPhone 13‌ Pro Max, so the ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ cases will not fit the ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro.

This is quite clear when you place an ‌iPhone 13‌ Pro case on an ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌. We have Armadillotek ‌iPhone 13‌ cases which are designed using some of the same specs that are likely used in dummy models, and the camera cutout is much larger.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max looks almost identical to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, although the camera bump is a bit larger. The dummy model has different lens sizes with slightly larger lenses, but other than that there is no change. Body makers don’t necessarily need precise lens size accuracy to develop a body, but lens changes could be made as some camera upgrades are expected.

As for the ‌iPhone 13‌ and ‌iPhone 13‌ mini, Apple is rearranging the camera lenses in a diagonal layout that includes a flash on the top right of the camera module and a microphone on the bottom left, with Wide and Ultra Wide another. This may be a change introduced to support the rumor that the sensor change stabilization feature, which is currently limited to Pro models.

Dummy models suggest that the iPhone 13‌ will feature a repositioned SIM tray and slight changes to the location of the volume buttons, while the SIM tray may be slightly offset on other models.

We might not have any major design changes this year, but Apple would add improved 5G, a faster A15 chip, and a 120Hz ProMotion display for the Pro models, so there’s still a lot to look forward to in the lineup. ‌IPhone 13‌.
