This is what the Pixel 5’s underwater photos look like [Gallery]

This week, as part of the March Pixel feature, Google launched a deep integration between Pixel phones and a scuba-ready photography case. Now Google has shared a first look at some photos of the underwater life taken on the Pixel 5.

Thanks to the new Dive Case Connector app, it’s now easier than ever to take photos with the Google Camera app on your Pixel phone with the controls included in Kraken Sports underwater photography cases.

The promise of taking photos underwater seems incredible, especially as beaches and other public spaces are expected to reopen properly this year in many areas. However, not everyone will be willing to lose more than $ 300 on a deal purely on Google’s assurance that the results are worth it.

To help convince potential buyers, Made by Google has taken to twitter to share a few examples of what to expect from photos taken with a Pixel 5 underwater.

Although the images are far from full resolution, the results are still absolutely stunning, given that they were taken with a smartphone rather than with a specialized camera.

As noted in the footnote to each image, the underwater photos on display today were all taken with the Pixel 5 using the Kraken KRH03 or KRH04 Universal Housing. That said, the case should fit any Pixel phone, and the Connect app will work with all Pixel phones on Android 11 or newer, including the Pixel 2.

What do you think of these preliminary shots of the Pixel Series’ new ability to safely and easily take sharp underwater photos? Would you buy a Kraken case? Let us know in the comments.
