This leak may well be our first look at the crazy new design of the PlayStation 5 – BGR

Sony has talked a lot about its next-gen console, confirming the main features of the PlayStation 5 well before launch. The console should be ready for the holiday season, Sony is expected to know just once next year. We have already seen demonstrations of what the PS5 will be able to do in terms of speed, but we have never seen the console itself. The design remains mysterious, as are other details of the launch of the PS5, including the exact release date and price. This is changing today, as a discovery could reveal some of Sony's design concepts for the next-generation PlayStation.

Found by the Dutch blog LetsGoDigital At the Brazilian Institute of Patents INPI, the camera of the following image looks very much like a PlayStation console.

The technical director of Sony, Yusuhiro Ootori, is at the origin of the invention, a leader who has already appeared in the past in connection with the PlayStation equipment. Ootori organized a dismantling of the PS4 on YouTube a few years ago, notes the report. The same director is also credited with the PS4 design patent filed with the same institution in Brazil last year.

The new Sony patent, which describes a generic electronic device, was also registered in the WIPO database a few days ago. Although nothing says that it is a PS5 design, the patent belongs to class 14.02, which includes "data processing equipment and peripheral equipment". Game consoles, like the PS4, are also classified in the same category as patents. A side-by-side comparison between the two design patents is available below.

There is so far a lot of circumstantial evidence to conclude that this device must be a game console.

Regarding the current design of the gadget, we are considering a product that screams at the "game". It's a lot more daring than the PS4 vanilla design you may be used to, with lines similar to what you expect. some of the desktop vendors that make gaming PCs.

Right in the middle, we have a large V-shaped opening that can easily be interpreted as the Roman numeral corresponding to 5, which would certainly fit the PS5.

Other design elements include an opening that can accommodate disks, a circular power button, and several ports at the front. The device also allows for significant ventilation, which the console will certainly need. The PS5 is already confirmed with a powerful processor and graphics processor, and the device may require better heat dissipation.

If it's not PS5, what is it? Does Sony create another type of gaming equipment? Because it seems that this device is designed for the game.

Again, there is another thing to consider, technology companies often patent ideas and innovations that may never see the light of day in commercial products. The same goes for this Ootori patent.
