Officer Ronald Kennedy arrived at the scene in Harlem on July 7 and immediately approached the victim.
A nearby man is then seen running into the store behind them and coming back with a bag of chips. Kennedy emptied the bag and asked for duct tape.
“It took me in my lung,” said the victim.
“I know, I know,” Kennedy replied. “Relax.”
Kennedy called two people nearby to help lay the victim on his back, and that’s when Kennedy started sticking the bag of shavings to the victim’s chest to cover the wound and slow the bleeding. until an ambulance arrives.
“We have you, we have you,” Kennedy can be heard saying.
When EMS arrived at the scene, they removed Kennedy’s makeshift bandage and transferred the victim to a stretcher and transported him to Harlem hospital.
According to the attending physician on the spot, Kennedy’s alertness saved the victim’s life.
It is not known if the suspect has been arrested at this time.
