This PS5 patent leak gives us our best look at the console design yet

The release of the PS5 is not yet complete in a year, but as we learn more about the features, specifications and PS5 games of the Sony console, it's hard not to be excited as long to 'advanced. And that was before this patent was presented to us, showing a device recorded by Sony that is very likely the PlayStation 5 itself.

The patent in question was registered as a Sony electronic device on August 13, after filing a patent application in May of this year, showing a console-shaped device that seems very unlikely to be naked. to be something other than the PS5. The patent page we have is through LetsGoDigital, and we have not found the WIPO list itself, but we think it's on a pretty good authority.

The patent is registered through the intermediary of the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office), the technical director of Sony, Yusuhiro Ootori, being also registered on the patent as a designer.

Sony PS5 Patent: What does it mean?

What is most fascinating in the PS5 patent is its V-shaped design, possible with reference to the Roman numeral V (which means "5"). On the diagram you can see a number of USB ports for DualShock controllers, as well as a line of buttons that can correspond to disc ejection, power up and others connectivity functions. There is probably a thin slot in the disc drive.

The ribbed sides and rims seem to indicate the ventilation system, which should be substantial enough to cope with the PS5's significant ramp-up compared to the current generation of PlayStation consoles.

Finished products never look like their patent schemes, of course, and it is quite possible that it is a branding or booking a first version of that which will eventually become the PS5. Sony likes to present a digital countdown on its consoles, the levels being cut in the shape of its PS3 and PS4 to represent the growing number. So it is quite possible that this is the design of the PS5 that many of us will have at home, from Holiday 2020.
