Sound streaming isn’t a new concept, but it’s an attractive concept for people who don’t want to wear headphones to hear sound coming from highly targeted speakers. It has been implemented in extremely limited business and industrial scenarios, but has yet to have a significant impact on consumers. Israeli tech company Noveto is set to take a leap, however, embarking on a demonstration tour before sending its SoundBeamer 1.0 to the market next year.

The prototype device you’re currently pressing is about as tall and slightly wider than a Nest Hub Max. It houses sensors to track the listener’s ears and arrays of dual transducers that direct ultrasonic audio just outside of the channels before they become audible. With the way the sound is directed, no one else, even nearby, should be able to hear it. There have been other devices that have toured the show before this one, but stereo sound is a new front in this area.

Noveto, along with partners Foxconn and China Euro Vehicle Technology AB, hopes to be able to reduce the footprint before SoundBeamer goes commercial in December 2021. No price range has been given. The company also hopes to sell integrations in home theater, home fitness, automotive, video conferencing, and other products. In the meantime, if you dig into the right mall or convention center, you might be able to try the SoundBeamer for yourself.
