Three people died on Saturday after a small plane crashed into a house in Lyon Township, Michigan, authorities said.
According to a statement released by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the three people who died are believed to be the occupants of the plane – two passengers and a pilot.

The house in the canton of Lyon was completely engulfed in flames after the accident, but the five residents of the house were safely evacuated. The family cat, however, did not survive the incident, according to CNN affiliate WDIV.
In a statement to The Hill, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified the aircraft as a single-engine Piper PA-24 and said the crash occurred around 4 p.m. local time.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will both investigate the incident and release further details as they arrive.
A neighbor told the local outlet that he was concerned that such a situation could arise due to the area’s proximity to the Oakland / Southwest Airport.
“I have two siblings under 2, and they were sleeping upstairs; they were taking naps … You worry like this could happen to us, because these planes fly low in here all the time” , Chase Southwick said, according to CNN.
