Not only do we have a new dune movie next year from Legendary Entertainment and director Denis Villeneuve, but we also get a series of video games. Legendary and Herbert Properties LLC teamed up with video game developer Funcom to make it happen. They have already developed games such as Age of Conan, Anarchy Online, and The secret world.

According to Gamefragger, this is a six-year partnership. During this period, they will publish "at least three titles that will be distributed on PC and on consoles". There are not many details about the games, but Funcom has confirmed that one of the games will match the "Open World Multiplayer." This game will enter pre-production sometime in 2019.

CEO of Funcom, Rui Casais had this to say in a statement:

"Funcom has a long history of working with the very good intellectual properties of science fiction and fantasy, including our bestsellers. Age of Conan and Conan Exiles. Many of us at Funcom, including myself, are huge fans of Frank Herbert's work and we are excited to have the opportunity to partner with Legendary and Herbert Properties LLC to bring the iconic DUNE world to life. to players around the world.

So there are some exciting Dune game projects to look forward to in the future. But I'm really excited about the upcoming movie, especially with this incredibly awesome cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Timothy Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista Stellan Skarsgard, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.

Dune follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is disputed among competing noble families. After the betrayal of Paul and his family, the story explores themes of politics, religion and man's relationship with nature, while Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family's reign.
