(AP) – Governor Phil Murphy announced that three companies based in India and present in New Jersey will expand their operations in the country, creating more than 1,200 jobs.
Murphy made the announcement Thursday as part of his seven-day trade mission to India.
The Mumbai-based information technology company, Tata Consultancy Services, will increase its Metro Park workforce by about 700 jobs, bringing its workforce in New Jersey to about 4,700 people.

Larsen & Toubro, another Mumbai-based company, will create around 400 jobs at Edison, bringing its workforce to around 1,000 people. Birlasoft, part of the New Delhi-based conglomerate CK Birla Group, will create 160 additional jobs at its Edison site.
Murphy, a Democrat, announced Monday that the state was opening an office in India to attract business. New Jersey already has a similar job attraction office in Berlin.
