SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The San Diego craft beer scene is known throughout the country. And it's even more obvious when you look at a new ranking from the Brewers Association.
The non-profit professional group that represents small-scale breweries recently released its annual list of major brewers in the United States, based on beer sales. So of course, San Diego had a little bit of love.
Stone Brewing Company ranked ninth on the
list of the best craft breweries
followed by the Karl Strauss Brewing Company at the 40th and Modern Times Beer at the 45th.

This is not the first recognition of San Diego's beloved beer scene. In January, seven breweries were among the top 100 brewers on RateBeer's worldwide list: AleSmith, Port Brewing, Stone, Modern Times, Alpine Beer, Ballast Point and Mikkeller.
According to the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, the San Diego region has more than 130 breweries of large and small brewers. In 2017, the San Diego breweries won 14 medals at the Great American Beer Festival, the agency announced.
