Ubisoft is making big plans for the coming year. The company disclosed in its latest financial results that it has three more unannounced triple-A games to come in the next fiscal year, revealing a likely set of E3 2019. Their release is scheduled for March 31 2020.
Although the company was relatively discreet in its financial report on the projects of these three games, it left some intriguing clues. During the Q & A with investors, Ubisoft President Yves Guillemot said that each game was sold at full price. The studio also seemed to suggest that the games would be of different genres, calling them "unique experiences" occupying different spaces in the market. Qs and As also reduced the window of publication in the fourth quarter, suggesting a publication between January and March 2020.
The three unannounced games were part of a list of four games during the exercise, one of which was announced last week: Ghost Recon Breakpoint. This game follows Ghost Recon Wildlands, but offers a host of new mechanics and options.
Another possible game on the slate of Ubisoft could be the next Assassin's Creed, which would take place in the Viking era. However, this game is slated for 2020 and the Assassin's Creed games are generally aimed at an outing for the fall, which would place it outside the plans of this exercise. We also learned today that Skull and Bones, the pirate fighting game, had been delayed.
This leaves at least two unaccounted games in the next year. These could include franchises like Watch Dogs or Splinter Cell, unique experimental pieces like Steep, or even another partnership with Nintendo like Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Ubisoft says we will soon hear about these games, which probably means at the press conference organized by Ubisoft at E3.
