Threes Creator Returns With Giant Beast Slaying Game

Three Designer Asher Vollmer launches a new studio, Vodeo Games, and announced the company’s first game, a turn-based adventure called Beast Breaker.

Beast breaker stars Skipper, a little mouse warrior fighting mosaic monsters. The game is based on tactical choices via pinball-type mechanisms; players can also craft equipment to aid them on their journey. It’s heading to Nintendo Switch and PC this summer. Vodeo released a brief trailer alongside Today’s News that shows off the game’s fast-paced gameplay and colorful art style of the game.

On its website, Vodeo says it plans to release small, intimate games “full of complex, nested systems that can take years to fully master,” once a year. The studio is already teasing a second as part of its work plan on multiple projects.

Since its release Three, Vollmer continued to work on other experimental projects, including a low-fi farmer simulator Royals and fantastic title from Apple Arcade Guildlings.
