'TI & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle' halts production amid allegations of sexual abuse

Freshly renewed for another season, VH1’s reality TV show TI & Tiny: friends and family has suspended filming after allegations of sexual assault against the show’s main couple, Clifford “TI” Harris and Tameka “Tiny” Harris, came to light.

In January, Sabrina Peterson accused TI of holding her at gunpoint during a previous altercation. Peterson also shared a flurry of anonymous confession on his Instagram Story where more than 30 additional women later came forward to share similar stories of abuse of Harris and his wife, including trafficking, drugs and of coercion.

In a statement to Billboard, the couple say they “categorically deny in the strongest possible way the outrageously appalling allegations that are being made.” The Harris’ also say they have been at odds with the lead accuser “for over a decade” and legal action will follow if she does not end his allegations.

“We are aware of the allegations and, while they are not related to our show, we have contacted TI and Tameka Harris, as well as local and national officials,” a spokesperson for MTV Entertainment said in a statement. at Deadline. “In view of the seriousness of the allegations, we have decided to suspend production in order to gather more information.”

The decision to stop filming is said to be a consensual agreement between the couple and MTV Entertainment. The show’s fourth season was slated to premiere in the spring and will follow the Harris duo through the pandemic, as they approach their 10th birthday and settle into their new roles as grandparents. Their inner circle of celebrities – Monica, Letoya Luckett and Toya Wright – were also due to return for the upcoming season.
