SALT LAKE CITY – With most of the festival being held online this year, tickets for the 2021 Sundance Film Festival go on sale Thursday.

Tickets will be available for purchase starting at 12:00 p.m. Mountain Time. The festival runs from January 28 to February 3.

“The work on this year’s program is groundbreaking, imaginative and formally daring,” Sundance Festival Programming Director Kim Yutani said in a press release last month. “With more than half of the program being directed by first-time directors, a sense of discovery remains with us at Sundance. This year’s Festival presents compelling evidence that despite the challenges, the independent voice is louder than ever.

All films on the festival schedule, including all 72 feature films and all short films, will be available online in the United States. Some of the films will also be available worldwide.

With limited in-person events at Sundance this year, along with a shorter schedule, passes and tickets are cheaper than in previous years. Tickets for single film screenings are $ 15, while festival passes, which give you full access to everything happening at the festival, are $ 350, according to the Sundance website.

Sundance is also offering $ 75 passes, which will allow access to any festival event for a single day.

A $ 100 Winners Pass will get you to watch all 32 award-winning films after their announcement on February 3. Finally, the $ 25 Explorer Pass allows holders to see Sundance’s independent series, New Frontier and on-demand short film programming.

While the festival is primarily live through the revamped Sundance website, feature films won’t be fully on-demand. Pass holders will still need to reserve a seat for movie premieres, which have a limited number of virtual seats available. The last day to reserve a place for a movie premiere will be January 28.

There will be five film premieres each day of the festival, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. KST. Two days after the premiere of these movies, there will be a second 24-hour screening window for people to see the movies on demand.

Full details about the festival and how to purchase tickets are available at festival.sundance.org.
