Dillon Passage explains how Tiger King affected his marriage to documentary star Joe Maldonado-Passage aka Joe Exotic.
King tiger Star Joe Maldonado-Passage, also known as Joe Exotic, and husband Dillon Passage are filing for divorce. The two men were featured on the King tiger docuseries. Exotic has become one of the central figures along with rivals Carole Baskin, Doc Antle and Jeff Lowe. The series was basically about how Exotic ended up in jail after orchestrating a pay-for-pay murder plan against Baskin. The series, which released on Netflix a little over a year ago, has become an instant hit for its weird-than-fictional plots and characters.
Passage has also been featured in the docu-series. The docuseries detailed the backstory of his relationship with Exotic. Exotique practiced polygamy and had several husbands. While some of his marriages weren’t discussed in the docu-series, his and Passsage’s were featured. The series initially focused on Passage’s marriage to husbands John Finlay and Travis Maldonado. After Finlay left Exotic and Maldonado died after accidentally shooting himself, Exotic married Passage.

Passage confirmed on his social media that he and Exotic are asking for a divorce. He posted a long Instagram post explaining the record that the King tiger docuseries took over their marriage. He expressed that it was a difficult decision for them and hinted that they both didn’t feel the same about all the fame and attention the docuseries have given them. Passage also alluded to Exotic spreading the dirty laundry of their relationship and unfairly attacking his manager, Jeff Duncan, on social media. Despite this, Passage would like to reassure fans that he and Exotic are on good terms and will always be out of each other’s lives.
It came after Exotic posted on social media about Passage, Duncan, and Baskin, implying that they had ruined his life for money and for fame. He has since deleted the tweets, but it’s clear it had a significant impact on their relationship. Additionally, Exotic’s accusations strongly contradict Passage’s accounts, claiming that Tiger King’s fame made him uncomfortable. Passage also noted that Exotic was in prison for most of their relationship. Exotic was arrested just nine months after starting their relationship and spent two and a half years of their marriage in prison. Dillon hinted that it also strained their relationship.
Divorce appears to be the best decision for the couple at the moment. Exotic and Passage both seem unhappy in the relationship, and that resulted in toxicity. In addition, he is happy that they end the relationship amicably. While Passage could simply say that in order to protect Exotic, Passage’s inability to slam her husband is refreshing to see. While King tiger sequels and adaptations have been discussed, and Passage is now unlikely to appear on any of them.
