King tigerJoseph Maldonado-Passage, aka Joe Exotic, was among the notable names who did not get a pardon from Donald Trump before the former president left office. According to the reality TV star, it’s because he’s “too innocent and too GAY.”
Exotic, who is serving a 22-year sentence for violating federal wildlife laws and a failed pay murder plot against foe Carole Baskin, released a statement Wednesday, hours after he expected to get the clemency. The Netflix sensation called out Trump’s “corrupt friends”, as well as his oldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
“I was too innocent and too GAY to deserve forgiveness from Trump. I only mattered to Don Jr. when he needed to comment on me to bolster his social media post, ”a post on Exotic’s social media accounts read. “Boy, were we all stupid to think he really represented Equal Justice?” His corrupt friends all come first.
Last April, Trump Jr. revealed that he had discussed a possible forgiveness for Exotic with his father.
“He was fascinated,” Trump Jr. remembers. “I think Melania may have shown him one of the memes I posted. It was like Donald Trump’s face with a King tiger mullet, which was pretty epic.
Lawyers for the former zoo operator were so convinced Exotic would be on Trump’s list that they hired a limo to pick him up from the Texas jail. But the call never came. Instead, there were 143 other recipients, including Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, and Steve Bannon, who made the cut.

Eric Love, a member of the Exotic defense team, expressed his disappointment on Wednesday.
“140 million Joe Exotic fans struggled to get up this morning. We are also disappointed that [Trump] didn’t sign Joe’s Pardon because we were confident yesterday that he would, “Love wrote,” It wasn’t until you 140 million fans that Joe’s Pardon was even a possibility. “
Exotic has maintained his innocence since his conviction in 2019.
“Since his trial, the evidence has clearly shown that Joe is not guilty but rather is the victim of the people he trusts the most,” Love’s statement continued. “Team Tiger, just this morning, spent two hours on the phone with Joe and listened to his oral arguments on a live call by Brandon Sample in Colorado. We won’t stop, we won’t rest until Joe’s injustice is corrected.
Meanwhile, Baskin told Buzzfeed News that she was glad Exotic didn’t get a pardon.
“I think only Joe’s team and the media even thought of a forgiveness for Joe”, Dancing with the stars said alum.
“There is no benefit, other than a weak attempt to distract, for anyone to forgive someone who has walked up to five tigers and shot them in the head in order to free the space of the cage for the circus, which was going to pay it to take their tigers on board during the offseason, ”she added. “Tigers are the world’s favorite animal and Joe Schreibvogel Maldonado Passage is exactly where he belongs: in a cage.
