Two days after sustaining serious leg injuries in a single-vehicle crash, Tiger Woods was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical in Los Angeles. He had received treatment at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, which issued a statement detailing Woods’ transfer.
“Mr. Tiger Woods has been transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for ongoing orthopedic care and recovery,” said Dr. Anish Mahajan’s statement. “To respect patient confidentiality, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center will not provide any information additional on patient care. “
Cedars-Sinai is approximately 20 miles north of Harbor-UCLA.
Woods suffered from multiple “comminuted open fractures” to his right leg. Her leg was stabilized with a rod inserted into her shin, while screws and pins were inserted into her foot and ankle.
In an update released Wednesday, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said the incident was “purely an accident” and that no criminal charges would be filed against Woods. There was no indication that Woods was weakened at the time of the crash.
The accident happened at around 7:12 a.m. PT, on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, near Los Angeles. Woods was driving at a high speed and lost control of the vehicle before passing through the center divider. His car overturned several times and struck a sidewalk and trees. Woods wore a seat belt, and a lever and an ax were needed to remove the windshield from the car.
