Tiger Woods is the target of a new lawsuit according to which the golf star would have allowed his Florida restaurant to over-serve alcohol to an employee struggling with an alcoholism problem which resulted in his death.
Woods and the restaurant's general manager, The Woods Jupiter, have been named in the lawsuit for wrongful death brought by the bartender's 24-year-old parents, USA Today reported.
Nicholas Immesberger reportedly had a blood alcohol level of about 0.28, more than three times the legal limit. He died after his car left the road when he was returning home last December.
TIGER WOODS RECEIVES THE PRESIDENTIAL FREEDOM MEDAL CLOUD BY A NEW CRITICAL ROUND
The lawsuit filed Monday in Palm Beach County alleged that prior to the crash, Immesberger had been overtaken for about three hours after the end of his shift at the restaurant.
The complaint alleged that "Tiger knew or ought reasonably to have known that Immesberger was accustomed to reliance on the use of any or all alcoholic beverages and / or that he was a habitual drunkard".
Although the lawsuit alleged that "Tiger is individually liable in this action because he has individually participated in the service of alcohol," USA Today pointed out that Woods may not have been at the restaurant at that time. According to the newspaper, under the state's liquor laws, Woods could be held liable as the owner of the restaurant even though he was not there, in cases of injury or death involving a person with a known history of alcohol abuse who was overworked.

According to the complaint, "The employees and management of The Woods knew directly that Immesberger had a habitual alcohol problem" and knew that he was attending meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous to try to treat his illness. "Despite this, the employees and management of The Woods continued to serve alcohol to Immesberger while he was working and after work while he was sitting at the bar."
The trial was aimed at "more than" $ 15,000, USA Today reported.
