A TikTok video shows a woman glued to her seat on an American Airlines flight after she allegedly attacked flight attendants and tried to open the plane’s front door.
The incident occurred Tuesday on American Airlines Flight 1774, which was traveling between Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
In the video, filmed by TikTok user @ lol.ariee, an unidentified woman in first class can be seen with duct tape around her body and mouth as she attempts to yell at the departing passengers the plane after landing.

In a follow-up video, @ lol.ariee explained that the commotion started an hour after the start of the two-hour flight when “all the flight attendants were running down the aisles, frantically as if whispering to each other.”
The crew started locking the bathrooms and started grabbing the bags from the hanging bins, but wouldn’t say what exactly was going on, @ lol.ariee said.
“It was a bit like chaos and nobody knows what’s going on,” she continued.
The pilot eventually spoke over the intercom and asked people to stay in their seats due to “a bad situation on the plane,” although he did not elaborate further, according to @ lol.ariee.
As the plane landed, an air hostess who was seated near the passengers explained that a woman who suffered from an apparent mental breakdown, “had an explosion” and attempted to get off the plane.
“She was like, ‘I have to get off this plane’, and she walked to the exits and started knocking on doors, saying, ‘You have to let me get off this plane! “” said @ lol.ariee.
The woman is said to have become aggressive, biting, spitting and attacking flight attendants, @ lol.ariee said, which ultimately prompted the crew to “take her down” and tape her mouth.
The video, which has been viewed more than 4 million times, shows a police officer and medical staff waiting at the entrance to the plane as other passengers exit the landing.

American Airlines confirmed to the New York Post that a woman “attempted to open the front boarding gate” during the flight and was detained “for the safety and security of other customers and our crew.”
Insider has contacted American Airlines for further comment.
TikTok user @ lol.ariee said in the follow-up video that she believed “what was going on seemed to be out of the woman’s control. She was scared.”
“They should have a better way of going about it… I feel like it was mismanaged,” she added.
As of January 2021, the Federal Aviation Administration has received 2,500 reports of unruly passenger behavior, most of which involve travelers refusing to comply with the federal mask mandate.
