Tillis to undergo surgery for prostate cancer

Senator Thom Tillis will undergo surgery next week for prostate cancer, he announced Monday.

In a statement, the North Carolina Republican said the cancer was detected early and expected to make a full recovery. The surgery will take place in its original state.

“I am blessed that my cancer was detected relatively early, and I cannot stress enough the importance of routine screenings, regardless of your condition,” Tillis said Monday.
