In an interview with Reuters earlier today, Tim Cook said AirPods Max are expected to be very scarce for the next few months in the second quarter. They have been difficult to obtain since their release in mid-December and will currently only arrive in late February or early March if you try to order them from Apple. Good news though! Some stores are available now.
The AirPods Max are currently in stock at Apple’s Amazon store for delivery in the coming days. They are available in silver and space gray for the regular price of $ 549. If you’ve been hesitant to get a pair and want a pair, now is the time to try and grab them. You can also buy a pair from Verizon, but they are only available in silver. All other colors are sold out.
If you were waiting for AirPods Max to return to stock at Apple, you will wait until Q2 according to Tim Cook. This means Apple probably won’t have wide availability until April. They’ve appeared in stock sporadically at different Apple stores over the past few weeks, so you might still be in luck. But for now, it’s your best chance.
During Apple’s earnings call today, CFO Luca Maestri noted that the iPhone had also suffered supply constraints. He says they expect to have a solution around March, which means we probably won’t see wide availability of all models until April as well.
