Tim McGraw reflects on Taylor Swift who named his 2006 debut single after him

In 2006, Taylor Swift named his first single after him.

And Tim McGraw explained that he was the inspiration behind Swift’s success, almost 15 years after its release, in a recent interview with Apple Music.

Although the 53-year-old country singer was impressed with the song, he admitted he was’ a little worried about it when [he] heard for the first time.

‘So I thought, have I come to that age now where they sing songs about me? Does that mean I jumped the shark a bit? Is everything still cool? McGraw remembers.

Tim’s insecurities were quickly crushed after learning that Taylor wrote the heartbreaking bullet when she was in seventh grade, proving her relevance.

“ And then I realized someone told me she was in her 7th grade math class when she wrote the song, so it made me feel a little better about it because that she was so young to write it.

“So I didn’t feel like I was that old…” joked McGraw, who has since played alongside Swift on numerous occasions.

At the 42nd Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards, Taylor performed live as Tim McGraw.

And during her performance, Swift made her way into the audience with her guitar to introduce herself to McGraw and his wife Faith Hill, 53.

The couple, who tied the knot in 1996, also joined Swift on stage on their reputation world tour in 2018 to perform the 2006 single as a trio.

McGraw also collaborated on an original song with singer Lover in 2013.

Country artist Keith Urban was also featured on the collaborative single, titled Highway Don’t Care.

Highway Don’t Care was featured on McGraw’s twelfth studio album, Two Lanes of Freedom.

Speaking to Apple Music about his work with Swift, McGraw described the experience as “ amazing. ”

“It was just her and her guitar and another person. Just two people, her and another guy playing, ”he recalls from their writing session, adding that he’s“ a huge Taylor fan ”.

“ I think she has such a unique way of connecting with her audience and her ability to write songs and her intuition is so amazing.

“And I just think she’s one of the biggest artists to come in a long time,” he exclaimed.
