Rewards totaling $ 30,000 are now being offered for information that helps authorities locate Gabby Petito’s missing boyfriend, Brian Laundrie.
Jerry Torres, who is a neighbor of the Petito family, initially offered $ 5,000 for any tip leading to the arrest of Laundrie, who went missing days before Petito’s body was found in Wyoming.
“The police are working tirelessly and they need your help,” he said. wrote on Twitter.
The award, however, was increased to $ 10,000 in part thanks to the help of Steve Moyer, the former Deputy Police Chief of Sarasota, Florida.
“Money makes people talk,” Moyer told CNN affiliate WZVN on Friday.
Boohoff Law, a personal injury law firm, announced last week that it is also offering $ 20,000 for “information leading directly to the exact location” of Laundrie.
“The authorized reward will remain open for two months from receipt of the tip by law enforcement investigating,” the statement said, the Sun North Port reported.
“We believe that by offering a reward, it can help law enforcement obtain answers and bring justice to Gabby,” Kate Shakira, an employee of the firm, told the Sun. “We have been in contact with law enforcement regarding this award.”
Petito went missing last month on a cross-country trip with Laundrie – and his body was found in a remote Wyoming campground on September 19.
Laundrie returned to the couple’s North Port home without her on September 1, has refused to cooperate with authorities and is now the subject of a massive manhunt.
The FBI announced Thursday that an arrest warrant had been issued against his arrest for unauthorized use of a debit card and bank accounts after Petito’s death.
