WASHINGTON, August 20, 2019 – Tip Top Poultry, Inc. of Rockmart, GA, recalls approximately 135,000 pounds of fully cooked poultry products that can be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes, the Food Safety Inspection and Food Safety Control Service (FSIS) announced today.

Products subject to recall bear the P-17453 factory number inside the USDA inspection mark or on the case. These items have been shipped to hotels, restaurants and establishments across the country.

The problem was discovered on August 17, 2019 when the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) notified FSIS that a sample of product manufactured by Tip Top Poultry, Inc. had confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Canadian partners in public health and food safety, including the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, have investigated an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes. A ready-to-eat diced chicken product collected as part of the survey tested positive Listeria monocytogenes. The investigation is ongoing.
