TIPPECANOE AND WHITE COUNTIES, Ind. (WLFI) – The Tippecanoe County Health Department is imposing new restrictions as the county’s positivity rate rises.
As we previously reportedOn November 17, the TCHD released a plan of further restrictions that would take effect if the county’s positivity rate exceeded 10%.
County health officer Dr Jeremy Adler said on Saturday that Tippecanoe County had a 10.2% positivity rate. And that as of Tuesday, November 24, the new restrictions will begin. They will remain in effect until the county’s 7-day all-test positivity rate drops below 10% for 14 days.
Tippecanoe County is still in the Orange Zone, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.
In addition to Governor Eric Holcomb’s executive order for county measures, the following new restrictions will apply to County of Tippecanoe:
- Retail – 75% capacity
- Cultural, entertainment and tourism venues – 50% capacity
- Day centers for seniors – 50% capacity
- Gyms and fitness centers – 50% capacity
- Restaurants
- 50% interior capacity
- 100% outdoor capacity, provided social distancing of at least 6 feet is maintained.
- outer tents must have two open sides
- Bars
- 25% interior capacity
- 100% outdoor capacity, provided social distancing of at least 6 feet is maintained.

White County has now moved to the red zone, according to the ISDH. This means White County will now have to operate under the Red County restrictions imposed by Governor Holcomb in his latest executive order.
White County currently has a 7-day positivity rate for all tests of 15.58%.
Some of the red zone restrictions include limiting social gatherings to 25 people or less with social distancing and masks, restaurants and retail stores are encouraged to switch to curbside collection and participation in extracurricular activities in Room K-12, including all IHSAA sporting events, is limited to participants, support staff and parents / guardians / siblings. All non-participants are required to wear a face mask when attending these activities.
To move to a less restrictive colored area, a county must meet the settings / score of a less restrictive category for two consecutive weeks before being allowed to move to that category. Currently, there are 21 counties in the red zone, including Fountain and Newton counties.
