Gurman speculated in his “Power On” newsletter that Apple underestimated demand. It likely made a small number of titanium Apple Watches and shut down production “months ago” in anticipation of upgrading to Series 7, according to Gurman, but sold out prematurely as sales remained relatively strong. While we wouldn’t rate the Titanium 6 Series as a wild hit if that’s true, Apple’s luxury apparel might have held up better than expected.

It is not known whether or not Apple offers a Series 7 in titanium. The tech giant has often shaken up its Watch Edition strategy, ditching its solid gold originals in favor of more affordable ceramic and, eventually, titanium. He might decide that the costs of manufacturing high-end watches do not justify the comparatively meager sales. There are always Hermès models if you want to splurge. At the same time, however, the titanium versions don’t cost much more in practice – and they could serve as halo watches that appeal to classic watch enthusiasts as well as the wealthy.
