Jason Todd’s brutal transformation into Red Hood and Bruce Wayne’s retirement as Batman highlight the official HBO Max’s Titans trailer.
Red Hood is born and Batman retires in the official Titans trailer.
The trailer begins by showing Dick Grayson’s beginnings as a youth before becoming Batman’s Boy Wonder. Then we hear an off-camera speaker – possibly Dr. Jonathan Crane’s scarecrow – talk about how Batman uses fear to control everyone. We then move on to the brutal beating of Jason Todd by the Joker at an amusement park, with a Gotham news station pronouncing Robin’s death as Tim Drake watches. That was enough for Bruce Wayne to officially withdraw from Batman, leaving the Titans to defend Gotham City.
Dick Grayson visits his former flame, Commissioner Barbara Gordon, and Red Hood states that Batman is gone and Gotham to him as he performs a play full of gangsters. These violent acts lead Barbara and the Titans to investigate this new vigilante, although they are unaware that the person behind the Red Hood is their former teammate.
Scarecrow appears to be a consultant for the GCPD, but being an infamous member of the Batman Thugs Gallery, obviously can’t be trusted. He appears to be playing an intricate game of chess, with Red Hood and the Titans pawns in his evil game. It is not known if season 3 of Titans will end with the team learning that Jason Todd is alive as Red Hood, as well as how he will be brought back to life after being killed by Joker.
Titans Season 3 premieres Thursday, August 12, with subsequent episodes airing weekly on HBO Max.
