Tom Brady finally responded to comments from Washington defensive end Chase Young on Sunday after netting a playoff berth with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles and unsurprisingly, he didn’t seem to offend the rookie’s enthusiasm.

Brady spoke to reporters about Young ahead of Saturday’s NFC Wild Card game where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face Washington in the franchise’s first playoff game since 2007.

β€œHe’s obviously a great young player and we have our hands full with that (defensive) line,” Brady said, via NFL.com. “He went to the state of Ohio, so I think the thing between the state of Ohio and Michigan is blurring a bit for him.”

The enthusiastic rookie won his Premier League title on Sunday in a 20-14 victory for the Eagles. As he left the field, Young was heard shouting, “Tom Brady! Tom Brady, I’m coming. I want Tom!”

Bucs coach Bruce Arians praised Young’s abilities on Monday, but warned: “You better watch what you want.”

Young spoke to reporters on Wednesday and said he wouldn’t apologize for what he said, but attributed his enthusiasm to playing against a future Hall of Famer.

β€œI’m excited for every game. Tom Brady? Do you think I won’t be excited to play GOAT? You’re tripping,” Young said, via NFL.com. “I’m not going to apologize for saying I want Tom.”

The Bucs are the favorites for Saturday’s game after Washington managed to claim the division title with just seven wins thanks to a disastrous NFC East.
