A sports fan cashed Tom Brady a week before competing for his seventh Super Bowl ring.

A signed Tom Brady rookie card from 2000 was auctioned last week for $ 555,998.

The card, from Brady’s first season with the New England Patriots in 2000, was rated PSA Gem Mint 10 – meaning the card is essentially in mint condition. The sale, which took place on January 25, took place on the PWCC Marketplace and was sold through eBay.

While the nearly $ 600,000 price tag is impressive, the buyer – who did it anonymously – actually had to pay an extra $ 8 for shipping.

A few other notable cards have won a hefty price tag in recent years. A rookie card signed Giannis Antetokounmpo sold for a record $ 1.812 million in September, and a rookie card signed LeBron James sold for $ 1.8 million in July. Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout, however, holds the record of $ 3.93 million, which broke the previous record held by a 1909 Honus Wagner card that sold for $ 3.12 million.

Brady, who was selected in the sixth round of the 1999 draft outside Michigan, played just one game and threw just three assists in his rookie season. It wasn’t until the following year, after replacing Drew Bledsoe, that Brady took over full-time with the Patriots – which ultimately led to his three League MVP awards and six Super Bowl titles.

The 43-year-old will lead the Buccaneers against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in his 10th Super Bowl appearance in his first year with the franchise. He’s thrown for 4,633 yards and 40 touchdowns this season.
