Tom Brady's camp has just announced bad news about a trademark application in June.

Late Thursday, the US Patent and Trademark Office rejected a claim that BradyTEB Capital Management, company of the company, deposited the mark "Tom Terrific" for use on trading cards and posters

In the rejection decision, the patent office noted that the nickname "uniquely and indisputably indicates" the fact that Tom New York Met has long met Tom Seaver.

"The registration is refused because the mark applied for is constituted or includes elements likely to falsely suggest a link with Tom Seaver," says the decision. "Although Tom Seaver is unrelated to the plaintiff's supplies of the mark applied for, Tom Seaver is so well known that consumers would presume a connection."

The decision of the patent office indicates that Brady may have the mark if Seaver gives its written consent to the use and registration of its nickname, which is unlikely to happen.

Somewhere in Queens, Mr. Met smiles.
