Tom Holland does not seem delighted with his performance in the movie Uncharted • Eurogamer.net

Tom Holland has opened up about his role as Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie – and it doesn’t look like he’s particularly thrilled with his performance.

In a new interview with GQ, the South London Spider-Man star said playing Drake in the movie was sometimes “less about scoring and going through that scene than about scoring and standing like that and seeing. my bulging biceps …

“It was a mistake and it’s something I’ll probably never do again.”

It’s worth looking at Holland’s quote in more detail here. GQ sets it up by describing the movie Uncharted as having something in common with an action film by Michael Bay. Holland had to strengthen himself for the role, and he had to stay “cool”.

“It was a vanity experience that left a strange taste in her mouth,” says GQ.

And then on Holland’s quote on the film in its entirety:

“As soon as you start worrying about ‘Am I good in this picture?’ acting becomes something other than playing a character. I think there are elements of my performance in Uncharted where I fell under the spell of being “I want to look good now.” I want this to be my cool moment. “I had to play this very tough, very stoic guy – basically being Mark Wahlberg. My character is supposed to be a fucking action hero right now!

“Look, I haven’t seen it so I don’t know if I was successful. But that was an important lesson learned, because sometimes it was less about scoring and going through that scene and more on brand yourself, hold yourself like that and see my bulging biceps … that was a mistake and it’s something I’ll probably never do again. “

So Holland isn’t saying the Uncharted movie is bad, or that his appearance in the movie was a mistake. What he does say, however, is that the way he played the part was partly a mistake.

Holland, who is infamous for stepping away from the script in interviews, likely left his PR managers tearing their hair apart with this GQ interview. And I doubt his payers in Hollywood are thrilled either. It’s hard not to read his quote and be worried about the movie, after all.

And, as a fan of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted video games, it’s hard not to see a disconnect between the Nathan Drake that I’ve loved playing over the years and “that very tough, very stoic guy – basically Mark Wahlberg. Nathan Drake Holland described in interview.

In January, Sony postponed the Uncharted movie until 2022. It was due to arrive in October of this year, before Sony optimistically postponed its July release.

New photos of the Uncharted film set were shared by Sony recently, as the film barely neared six months. This followed our first pic of Tom Holland in full costume last year.
