The appeal of all of Tom Holland’s men is undeniable; It’s a big part of what made the British actor such a compelling version of Marvel’s most hapless hero, Peter Parker. We can now add another data point to Holland’s “He’s Like Everyday People!” credentials: the revelation that he found out he was cast as Spider-Man the same way we did: by reading a blog post on Marvel.com

It comes from a recent interview Holland did it with fellow MCU alumnus Daniel Kaluuya (currently featured in the upcoming Judas and the Black Messiah) as part of VarietyActors On Actors interview series. Speaking about his golf game and Kaluuya’s movie viewing habits, Holland revealed the unlikely way he found out he got the role he had spent the last year of his life auditioning for, c ‘That is, seeing Marvel post about it on Instagram, then clicking on a blog with his face on it.

But no: Marvel really told the world before they told Holland, probably because you can only get Mark Ruffalo’d on these great movie secrets so many times.

You can see the rest of the interview, which also sees Holland and Kaluuya reflect on Cherry, Fred Hampton, Ryan Coogler and more, more than Variety.
