Spider-Man: No Coming Home featuring Tom holland won’t hit theaters until December, but fans are already wondering if that could be the end of the road for Dutchman Peter Parker. Indeed, the last two franchises have seen Tobey Maguire tapping after three movies and Andrew Garfield may only do two, but Holland is in a unique position as the Marvel Studios / Sony Pictures deal has allowed them not only to lead their own Spider Man movies, but also makes some hard-hitting supporting turns in MCU movies like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

So when Collider’s Steve Weintraub spoke to Holland on press day for his new movie cherry, he asked the actor if he was under contract for Spider Man past movies Spider-Man 3, and Holland revealed his contract ended after this movie – but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to hang up the costume:

“[Spider-Man 3] would be my last [under contract] so i always told them if they wanted me to come back i would be there in the blink of an eye. I loved every minute of being a part of this amazing world. It has changed my life for the better, I am so lucky to be here. If they want me to come back I will be there, if they don’t I will leave at sunset, a very, very happy person because it was an amazing trip.

For a brief time there, Holland was almost out of the MCU when talks broke down between Marvel and Sony after Spider-Man: Far From Home has been freed. The agreement between the two studios for the first two Spider Man the films were unprecedented, with Marvel Studios taking the lead in creation while Sony distributed the film and reaped most of the profits. Holland was credited with helping bring the two studios together for Spider-Man 3, and he said during our interview that as he understands it, the agreement they worked for Spider-Man: No Coming Home prevents any future breakdown in negotiations between Marvel and Sony. So if a Spider-Man 4 were to happen, they would no longer have to bridge this gap:

“From what I understand, it’s that an agreement between the two studios has already taken place. I don’t think they’re going to have the same issues they had by the time we were going… was that “Spider-Man 2”? “ Far From Home ” was out, and then it all happened between Sony and Marvel. I think both studios have fixed the problem, and I don’t think it will be a problem in the future. Having said that, I’m just the actor and I’ve been on a few phone calls during this process, but I think they love working together, I think they’ve found a way that it can be beneficial for both of them. studios, and I’m just like a kid in the middle, between two parents in an argument (laughs).

Indeed, the agreement between Marvel and Sony now sees Disney / Marvel co-finance 25% of Spider-Man 3 for a 25% stake, and he also called for at least one more Spider-Man appearance in the upcoming Disney / Marvel movie.

So will the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies continue? In 2017 Holland said that Spider-Man: Homecoming was the start of a planned trilogy, and already director Jon watts – who directed all three films – has been announced as the director of the upcoming Marvel film The Fantastic Four restart, so it looks like Watts will continue. It is possible that Holland is inspired by Robert Downey Jr. who continued to play and support MCU roles after Iron man 3, but again, the Sony complicates things here. These Spider Man movies do a lot money, so we imagine that unlike previous attempts to bring the webslinger to the screen, they will see that the webslinger is not yet out of breath and might be eager to do Spider-Man 4 happen.

It’s still a long way off, but at least we know Holland is ready to keep playing Spider-Man as long as Sony and Marvel want to keep doing. Spider Man movies.
