Tom Holland's Marvel deal: How many Spider-Man movies did it leave?

Tom Holland's Spider-Man has quickly become one of the most important characters in the Marvel film universe in recent years. This is even more true in the wake of Avengers: Endgame, because the MCU is desperately short of Avengers even as new, larger threats loom on the horizon. This raises an important question: how many movies did the actor Tom Holland leave on his contract with Marvel? Will we even have another Spider-Man solo movie in the MCU? The short answer is, yes, very likely. Although there have sometimes been conflicting reports over the years regarding the exact number of films signed by Holland, the actor is currently under contract with six images with Marvel Studios. This was confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter in 2016. According to THR, Holland's deal concerns three Spider-Man solo films and three other MCU projects.

For those who stay the course, it means that Holland has completed five of these six films. Between Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Holland has already completed three different MCU projects. And with Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Away from the house in the bag, there is more than a sequel to do for Spider-Man.

This does not mean that the sequel to Far From Home will necessarily be the last we see from Holland as Spider-Man. Robert Downey Jr. renegotiated his Marvel contract several times between Iron Man of 2008 and Avengers: Endgame of 2019, and Chris Hemsworth expressed the wish to continue playing the role of Thor even though he had completed his contract with Endgame. Holland could theoretically reiterate his agreement and appear in future suites of Spider-Man and Avengers. Although other factors come into play in this case, the future of Holland's MCU also depends on maintaining relations between Marvel Studios and Sony.

Unfortunately, this relationship may end up being the real limiting factor. Producer Amy Pascal suggested in 2017 that Spider-Man and its supporting actors could eventually disappear from the MCU. She said at the time: "One of the things that makes me so amazing in this experience is that studios do not often decide to work together to make a film. In fact, it may never happen again afterwards [to Spider-Man: Homecoming]. "

Pascal's observations show that the duration of Holland's contract may not be relevant if Marvel and Sony decide to separate after Far From Home. Fortunately, there is little reason to think that the two studios will not continue to work together at the moment. The box office screenings of Far From Home are impressive and the end even directly prepares the set for a third Spider-Man movie.

It seems very unlikely that Marvel and Sony do not foresee following the end of the cliffhanger introduced in the sequence of average credits, while J. The consequences of this leakage of identity will undoubtedly play an important role in the third film.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also compared these films to the Harry Potter series, describing each year a career year at Peter's high school (starting with his second year at home). Part 3 is likely to complete this process and will cover his last year of study and graduation, assuming that Peter has even room in his life for school after being sidelined.

Whatever happens, the third Spider-Man movie is about to close this phase of Peter Parker's MCU career. As to whether there will be more Marvel films in the future of Holland after that, we can only hope that Marvel will have more to say later this summer.
