Tom Holland’s Opioid Epidemic Film ‘Cherry’

Remember what Twitter looked like two weeks ago? Before Bean Dad or a literal coup? When we spent a whole afternoon on December 23 soak on the poster for a Tom Holland movie that seemed to declare itself “Best Picture” and called “CHERK “? It turns out the movie is actually called Cherry, the poster was sort of a misprint, and the first trailer was released on January 8. In the clip, Holland plays a well-meaning young man (who we’ll call Cherk) who enlists in the US military because he’s looking for a “sense of purpose.” This teaser is extremely disturbing to those who know the material source from the Russo Brothers is a 2018 novel by Nico Walker about a young soldier with PTSD who becomes addicted to opioids.
