Michigan State coach Tom Izzo’s heated exchange with a player in Thursday night’s overtime loss to UCLA in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament sparked a debate over the social media.
At halftime, Izzo was seen yelling at Spartans forward Gabe Brown. Izzo briefly grabbed Brown’s arm as they made their way to the locker room, then grabbed his jersey to try and stop him from running down the tunnel. When Brown fled, Izzo pursued him.

The debate raised questions for some on social media, but for Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green – who is also a Michigan State alumnus – it didn’t matter.
Izzo was asked about the timing after the team’s 86-80 loss.
“He missed a play and I told him. He left and I told him to come back,” he said, via the Detroit Free Press. “We went through this a few years ago. A game like that, is that the question you’re going to ask me? I guess I’ll answer it because the media has the right to ask any question.

“But we’re going to bring him in here and you can ask him.” It was nothing normal. It’s just that nowadays everything is something. It was about a failed switch we talked about.
Brown was not made available to reporters after the game.
Izzo was also criticized at the 2019 men’s tournament for a passionate moment with Aaron Henry.
The game video shows Izzo rushing out onto the field during a timeout and yelling at Henry. Other trainers and guard Cassius Winston quickly intervened to separate the two before the chewing continued in the task force.
