Professional wrestling veteran Tommy Dreamer took to Twitter this week and called AEW CEO Tony Khan for his latest “paid ad” on Impact Wrestling TV.
As noted, Khan and Tony Schiavone appeared on Impact this week for their 11th “paid advertising” segment. This time around, the Tony’s brought several AEW wrestlers with them, some of whom were previously members of the Impact squad – Dr Britt Baker, Rebel, Ricky Starks, Brian Cage, Ryan Nemeth, Isiah Kassidy and Matt Hardy. You can click here for the segment, which saw Khan continue to shoot the Impact and knock them out for their star power.
Dreamer, who continues to work with Impact, took to Twitter and commented on Khan’s latest promo, now using “The Forbidden Door” as a nickname.
“Promotional Lesson 101 builds the person you’re talking about UP whether you win or lose, beat or lose to someone special,” Dreamer wrote. “When more than half of your staff worked @IMPACTWRESTLING, don’t feel in the place that helped them because you’re shitting on yourself #fact #IMPACTonAXSTV”
Khan has not responded to Dreamer’s tweet to date.
Dreamer recently celebrated his 50th birthday by unsuccessfully challenging Impact world champion Rich Swann in the main event of the No Surrender event. Dreamer recently appeared on Busted Open Radio and revealed that he suffered a dislocated finger during the fight, which he said was his 18th broken finger in his entire career. Dreamer blamed “his own fat”.
Dreamer, who returned to working behind the scenes and on television in 2018, also revealed that he is stepping away from his on-camera role for a while. He also shared his thoughts on the game with Swann.
“Yes and no,” Dreamer said when asked if he was happy with his performance against Swann. “I would have liked to have had a little more gas in the tank. The match lasted 17-18 minutes. I’m most proud of… none of us threw a punch. The fact that we were able to keep people’s interest the longest and neither of us threw a punch, kudos to Rich and the game. There were lights that I liked. I was sucking in the wind. I haven’t exploded since the early 90s. Without fans, you have no idea. Adrenaline is nothing.
“When it happened with my finger, if there were fans there, I probably would have continued. It was a combination of a kick to the head, a finger killing me, I just needed a break and I needed water. I’ve been put through tables and fallen from buildings, but the crowd rushes with that, the performance is highlighted. Without fans there, I’m like, “What’s going on with my body?”
He continued, “I don’t want to say goodbye, but I’m going to step away from the camera stuff a bit. There are so many more stories to tell. I had my big time and unless WWE and Drew McIntyre on my 51st birthday, I will face him.
After the loss to Swann, Dreamer went on to lose to TNA World Heavyweight Champion Moose in an Old School Rules match, the main event of last week’s post-No Surrender edition of Impact. .
