The latest episode of VICE TV Dark Side of the Ring covered the infamous “Plane Ride From Hell” involving WWE Superstars returning from a European tour in 2002. During the episode, a flight attendant who worked on this flight accused Ric Flair of having him sexually harassed after he stripped naked and started parading around the plane before cornering her. But while fans were furious with “The Nature Boy” over these allegations, many were equally angry with Tommy Dreamer for the statements he made throughout the episode.

“Ric Flair is not going to try to force sex on anyone,” said Dreamer, defending Flair. “He’s just flaunting, styling and profiling and [doing the] Ric Flair stuff where everyone is going to laugh about it, but obviously someone took offense. “

He then criticized the flight attendant’s decision to settle her WWE lawsuit out of court, saying, “If that’s how she felt, maybe she didn’t. shouldn’t have taken a payment and gone to the fullest extent of the law and then really put this obnoxious person in jail. “

Over the weekend, Impact Wrestling, where Dreamer works both in the ring and behind the scenes, released a statement and confirmed that Dreamer has been suspended indefinitely for his comments.

“We are aware of Mr. Laughlin (Tommy Dreamer’s) comments on ‘Dark Side of the Ring’. The views he expressed in the interview are totally unacceptable. We can confirm that Mr. Laughlin was suspended this morning with immediate effect, pending further action. “

Dreamer remained silent on social media after the backlash, but returned to Twitter on Sunday with a statement apologizing for what he said.

“When it comes to my comments on Dark Side of the Ring, I never intended to offend, hurt or shame anyone. I understand that my comments were callous and could trigger emotions in someone’s personal past I do not tolerate any sexual misconduct from any kind. I apologize to anyone I have offended. From the bottom of my heart I am so sorry.

As for Flair, its advertising campaign with CarShield has been suspended. The company issued a statement to PWInsider that said, “We take these matters very seriously. At this time, we are suspending the campaign and will do our due diligence.”
