Toney leaves Pitt; Enter the NCAA Transfer Portal

PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh Head Coach Jeff Capel announced the departure of junior Au’this toney Thursday. Toney will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
“We have reached mutual agreement that Au’Diese [Toney] will be leaving the effective Pitt men’s basketball program immediately, ”said Capel. We appreciate his efforts over the past three seasons in our schedule and we wish him well as he looks to continue to grow on and off the pitch. “
Toney, who missed the Panthers’ last game with injury, averaged 14.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He has scored 12 times in double figures with three games with 20 points or more. He ended his career at Pitt with 763 points, 423 rebounds and 80 steals.
Pitt returns to action Sunday, Feb. 28 at NC State (4 p.m. – ACC Network). The Panthers are 9-9 this season with a 5-8 conference mark with three games left for the ACC.
