Thursday, the news was announced – via MMAJunkie's Steven Marrocco – This former UFC acting lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, has been the subject of a prohibition order. The order was filed by his wife, citing allegations of domestic violence.
The blocking order was filed in the Orange County Superior Court in California. The Domestic Violence Prevention Services Project of this court is planning an investigation on March 22. The court also scheduled a hearing for domestic violence on April 5th.
In its report, Morocco reported five police-reported incidents of various domestic disturbances at the Ferguson homes since January 2018.
According to a report dated February 16, Ferguson's wife reportedly called the police after he "dumped holy water on him".
According to a report dated February 19, after spending three days without sleeping, Ferguson was "tearing up the house" and "believed that someone had placed [computer] a leg in the leg. "This report also alleged that Ferguson made several threats and that he claimed to believe" that a person was within his walls ".
The restraining order was made a week after Ferguson abducted his two-year-old son from his wife's parents' home (where his wife and child were living at the time) and took him home. Ferguson would then have changed the locks in the house. Six police units were then sent to Ferguson's home, but they left after it was determined that no crime had been committed.
On Friday, Ferguson's wife, through his lawyer Jeffrey L. Heath, made a statement to ESPN explaining why she asked for a restraining order. This statement is presented below:
"Tony Ferguson is a good husband and a good father for our son. The ongoing court proceedings are part of a process to ensure that Tony will receive the help needed to stay the best possible, as well as to pursue his passion and career as a UFC champion. All positive wishes are sincerely appreciated and I hope that our privacy will be respected. "
