Covering the news often involves delving into the details of the latest developments in the cleantech space, which can often lead to losing the more general theme of progress in the cleantech space. Reader and friend of CleanTechnica Dominic suggested that we write a news column in the clean tech sector to highlight not only the hottest stories of the day, but also the larger themes that are playing out in space. . We had planned to start testing this. This article, however, talks about Tesla. What can we say – Tesla is up to date.
Charge battle face to face: Audi e-tron vs. Tesla. Winner: Tesla (via Reddit)
In a Reddit article titled "The Best Advertisement for Tesla, It's My Experience with the Audi E-tron", a user recounted his 260-kilometer driving experience in an Audi e-tron quattro 55 , with some attempts to use the DC fast charge in public power. . The test test showed that simply having the same number of places to load on a map as the Tesla supercharging network does not translate into similar load capacity.
The redditor has encountered stations with full single plugs as well as broken chargers. He ended up giving in and congratulating Tesla for his well thought-out charging network and charging density. It's not just about having a charging station, it's about having enough charging stations, at the right locations, at the proper charging speed.
(In addition, Matt Joyce of Loup Ventures sums up the other half of the problem in a nice little card.)
Tesla multiplies by 5 the bonus of the sponsorship program
The Tesla sponsorship program has been a controversial part of the company's strategy. It has allowed YouTubers, celebrities and enthusiasts to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of prizes in just a few months by encouraging other users to use their referral link to buy a Tesla. The company has since revised its program and this week launched an updated program that increases the bonus by 5 times.
The new program offers buyers using a referral link 5,000 miles of free boost, but only until May 28. At this point, not only will you lose extra boost miles, but the Full Self Driving mode will have soared. Based on all Elon shares on Twitter, the price of the FSD is expected to increase by an additional $ 1,000 by May 10. I do not often share my referral code, but feel free to use it if you want to buy a new Tesla or Tesla Solar system.
Tesla's advanced summon amazes viewers, but clearly requires more work (via Reddit)
Tesla Advanced Summon is the latest technology from Tesla. It allows owners to call their vehicles on the other side of the parking lot. This is perhaps one of Tesla's first technologies that propels the car to a higher level and gives it the impression of being truly of the future.
Advanced Summon is still in very limited version for a selected set of users of the advance access program, but a new video has appeared on Youtube this goes a step further in the solution, including how the Tesla application works. It's fun to watch, if only to see the people around the car make a double physical grip while the car passes them without the driver taking the place.
Tesla kills the competition (via Reddit)
The Tesla Model 3 hits the mid-size luxury vehicle segment and also attracts many buyers of a discounted vehicle segment in a Tesla. The mainstream media describes Tesla as a niche player, but in recent months alone, the historic leaders such as the BMW 3 Series and the Toyota Prius have been significantly reoriented. In addition, the Tesla Model 3 rose above them.
The Tesla Model 3 crushes all competitors.
BMW 3 Series: US sales down 40% in 2019
Toyota Prius: sales in the United States down 45% in 2019Both cars are among the most popular take-back vehicles for new Model 3 customers.
– Kevin Rooke (@kerooke) April 29, 2019
In 2019, sales of the BMW 3 Series in the United States decreased by 40% and sales of the Toyota Prius by 45%. The crazy part about this is that the $ 35,000 standard 3 model has just been released. Consider federal, state, and local government discounts at or below the price of many cars worth $ 10,000 or less.
Increasingly, buyers are wondering why they would pay more for owning a Toyota, a BMW, an Acura or a Mercedes, while they may have a Tesla with a lower environmental footprint, faster acceleration and more of pleasure to each drive for less money.

Tesla's autopilot navigation system allows navigation in toll cabins and highway interchanges
Tesla's autopilot solution gets better with every software update, but it's hard to understand the spirit of every incremental update as part of the complete solution. A new video of the one and only Frunkpuppy (@ 28dayslater) shows the solution at work with a combination motorway-interchange plus toll.
I never got away #You're here #Automatic pilot during all this video clip. Unreal. Go by the toll # model3 #navOnAP #winner pic.twitter.com/1sfVImrO39

Niche scenarios such as tolls are just one of the pieces of the puzzle that Tesla has to solve, as its neural network continues to add capacity to generate even more scenarios. The world is complex, as is the solution that must navigate safely. In this case, the autopilot still manages everything as a champion and zooms out on the other side of the toll, eager to devour even more miles on the highway.
Tesla Autopilot Accident Prevention
The Tesla autopilot avoids driver accidents every day, making cars safer and easier to live with. Frankly, even in the best of circumstances, having an accident is painful, and the autopilot helps you avoid that. Millenialgirlinamaterialworld (yes, awesome Twitter name) tweeted that the autopilot had just saved her from a major accident. We do not get more details than that, but it's just an additional data point that allows the autopilot to avoid accidents and protect its employees.
Autopilot on #You're here JUST saved me from a major accident. When my heart stops beating and I download the footage, I publish more.

If you're a full-time autopilot or autonomous driver, check out the episodes of CleanTech Talks where CleanTechnica The director, Zachary Shahan, spoke to ARK Invest's Tasha Keeney about everything autonomous here and here.
The Tesla model S drifting
Well, it's not a clean technology, but it's really fun. This Tesla Model S has found a way to bypass the built-in traction control and force the car to break traction for a drifting pleasure. As you can imagine, it seems a bit awkward when you drive a factory programmed car to become a champion of absolute traction.
