Forbes released its 40th annual list of the world’s 400 richest people, and the majority are Americans.

According to the publication, billionaires’ net worth was calculated using stock prices and exchange rates as of September 3, 2021.

Almost all of them are richer than they were a year ago, and the top 20 together are worth $ 1.8 trillion.

Notably, the minimum net worth required to be on the list was $ 2.9 billion, up from $ 2.1 billion previously, or 51 billionaires.

MarketWatch reported last week that media mogul Oprah Winfrey was just below that amount and that former President Donald Trump fell off the Forbes 400 for the first time in 25 years.

So who is at the top of the list in the United States?

1. Jeff Bezos

Amazon.com, Inc. founder Jeff Bezos remains in the lead for the fourth year in a row, with a net worth of $ 201 billion.

While the founder of Blue Origin, LLC stepped down as CEO to become president in July, Amazon flourished during the COVID-19 pandemic.
