“America’s Got Talent” is two weeks away from the announcement of a winner.

The top five finalists were revealed on Wednesday’s results broadcast, after “the best live show of the season so far by a mile,” according to Simon Cowell.

Although Cowell said there was a “very, very clear winner” after Tuesday’s performances, two Golden Buzzer acts that received the best reviews of the evening found themselves shockingly in danger of elimination.

Sofia Vergara’s jaw dropped to the ground: “What happened? Cowell’s eyes widened in a moment of disbelief: “We didn’t vote.” Howie Mandel gasped when he realized that “two Golden Buzzers” need to be saved by America.

Here is what happened :

Fan choices

The three acts that received the most votes automatically moved forward. That means they’re just one million dollar performance and a headlining show in Las Vegas.

The actress Gina Brillon was the first act to advance. “This is the year of comedy,” Mandel said. Brillon burst into tears on stage: “You have no idea what that means.”

Aerial Aidan Bryant, who learned to fly two years ago on YouTube after watching a Pink concert, joined her in the safe zone. “Right now you’re really the one to beat,” Cowell said. Heidi Klum said that “the 16 year old girl’s story is amazing”.

A “frustrated” Simon Cowell warns the “AGT” semi-finalists to “improve”.

Magician Dustin Tavella also stepped forward. “Thanks a lot guys, I feel a bit bad,” he said after passing 10-year-old Peter Rosalita. Klum replied that she was “not surprised” that Tavella reached the final. Mandel called him “one of the best magicians” he had ever seen.

Face to face

Vocalist Jimmie Herrod (Golden Buzzer by Vergara), vocalist Michael Winslow and the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team (Golden Buzzer by Terry Crews) finished in the middle of the field and were on the verge of elimination.

Last night, Mandel said Herrod was “by far the best singer in this competition”. Cowell called the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team his “favorite act.” Vergara said she was “hypnotized” by Winslow, but that wasn’t enough to inspire America to pick up the phone to vote.

“Tough competition last night,” said Cowell. “I’m not going to lie, I’m surprised. But America controls the vote now.”

The three acts clashed in a live voting round for the “Dunkin ‘Save”, where fans had the opportunity to save an artist. Whoever received the most votes in a 30-minute whirlwind would move on.

In the end, viewers saved Herrod. “Hallelujah,” he exclaimed. Vergara said she was “going to throw up” because of the anticipation: “You deserve to be here. I don’t know what happened to America.

But the results weren’t over yet. The judges were lucky enough to save either the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team or Winslow. Crews called it “the judge’s biggest decision to date”.

“Both of these acts are worthy of Las Vegas,” Klum said before voting to retain the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team. Vergara made a “difficult” choice and chose the World Taekwondo Demonstration Team. Cowell also selected the martial arts group to progress. Mandel didn’t even have to vote.

Eliminated

For six other acts, however, their dreams collapsed after being eliminated.

The five acts with the fewest votes – Tory Vagasy (singer); Beyond Belief Dance Company (wild card); Korean Soul (vocal quartet); Madilyn Bailey (singer); and Peter Rosalita (singer) – bid farewell.

Winslow was also sent to pack.

Next week

“America’s Got Talent” will return on September 7 for the second half of the semi-finals (NBC, 8 EDT / PDT).

Next week’s performers include four Golden Buzzer winners – Lea Kyle (quick-change artist), Victory Brinker (opera singer); Northwell Nurse Choir – with Brooke Simpson (singer); Rialcris (acrobatic group); ChapKidz (dance group); Peter Antoniou (mentalist); Josh Blue (actor); 1aChord (vocal trio); Kabir Singh (actor); and UniCircle Flow (unicycle dance group).
