The storm system started Wednesday east of Texas and covers 150 miles. Bryan and San Augustine, Texas, were directly affected by tornadoes.

Just five minutes before the tornado struck Ruston, Brittney Fletcher was woken up by an SMS alert message. If she had not been to the shelter, she would have been covered with glass.

"He opened the door, he opened the door and he was completely blocked!" Fletcher told CBS News.

In the next 24 hours, the storm will push east by pouring more rain and raising high winds in Georgia, Alabama and Florida. While some people here in Ruston are already starting to repair the damage, the owner of a heavily affected motel said that it was not possible.
