A tornado hit the city Oklahoma El Reno on Saturday night and killed at least two people.
At an early Sunday morning press conference, El Reno Mayor Matt White said the storm struck around 10:30 pm and that sirens of warning sounded at 10:27 pm.
The storm destroyed an American Budget Value Inn, damaged nearby Skyview Estates mobile home park and also affected nearby businesses, including a car dealership.
"People have absolutely lost everything," said White at a second press conference Sunday morning. "You will not believe some of the ravages when you see some of the pictures. "
According to White, 29 people had been transported to local hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to critical. He said that several hundred people have been affected or displaced.
The mobile home park, according to White, had 88 homes. The rescue efforts, which are still ongoing, mainly concern about fifteen of them. White said all the guests at the American Value Inn budget had been taken into account as of Sunday morning.
El Reno is 30 miles west of Oklahoma City. According to the 2010 census, its population is about 17,000 people.
The region has also experienced severe flooding this week. White is strangled by talking to local first responders.
"We went through the situations one after the other, and they went nonstop," said White. "During the flood, they carried out about forty rescues by boat … and then this tornado occurs."
This is not the first destructive tornado to hit the city in recent years: in 2013, eight people in the El Reno area were killed by a tornado that swept across a vast area of ?? Oklahoma.
The El Reno storm is the latest in a series of deadly times in the Midwest. Last week, several tornadoes hit Missouri. Missouri and Oklahoma both experienced severe flooding.
On Saturday, officials told residents in Tulsa that they should consider leaving their homes. According to the Associated Press, dikes that help contain are becoming more and more emphasis on the Arkansas River.
