A group of conservative leaders have said that President Joe Biden’s administration is “tearing the US Constitution to shreds” in a scathing open letter calling on the White House and the federal government to be fully transparent about all actions to restrict the speech.
“Its assault on America’s free speech is terrifying. It is the hallmark of dictatorships,” said the letter obtained by Fox News.
The Biden administration said last week it was working with Facebook to report what it considers to be coronavirus-related disinformation, raising significant free speech concerns.
“We, the undersigned, immediately call on the big tech companies to publicly announce that they will not heed the federal government’s calls to censor dissenting views. Neither on COVID-19 nor on any other subject. Furthermore, we call on these companies to resist further demands for such outrageous censorship of dissenting voices, ”the letter said.
