It’s rare for a trailer to be so touching and existential.

Disney + has released the official trailer for the Marvel Studios animated series, “What If …?” Thursday, and the two-minute clip is surprisingly moving in several ways. Not only does it explore a “multiverse of limitless possibilities,” but it features the late Chadwick Boseman voicing his latest role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Boseman, who lost a four-year battle with colon cancer in August, recorded his lines for the “What if …?” Shortly before his death, Uproxx reported. He was 43 years old.

The alternate world-themed series focuses on the alternate possibilities for Marvel Universe characters and storylines.

In the new original series, which begins airing on August 11, Boseman voices an alternate reality version of his “Black Panther” character, Prince T’Challa of Wakanda. In “What if …? Marvel character Yondu takes T’Challa and makes him Star-Lord, instead of the character Peter Quill, as the storyline previously was.

The trailer also features the character of “Black Panther” Killmonger saving “Iron Man” Tony Stark from being hit by a missile, among other twists and turns in established Marvel stories.

The sequel “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is set to hit theaters on July 8, 2022, minus the irreplaceable Boseman.
