[Trailer] Mike Flanagan's "Doctor Sleep" takes us back to the Overlook Hotel for a real sequel to "The Shining"

Back in 2013, Stephen King released Sleep doctor, a sequel to The brilliant (his novel, not Kubrick's film) which continues the story of Danny Torrance, who was of course a young boy at the events of The brilliant. This novel sequel now comes to the screen with the courtesy of Mike Flanagan (Gerald's Game, "The Haunting of Hill House"), and the trailer has arrived.

What is interesting here is that Flanagan has clearly not only adapted the Sleep doctorbut he also followed up on Kubrick's The brilliant. The film seems to duplicate in this department, with Flanagan recreating moments from Kubrick's iconic classic and directly using footage from his film. In this sense, it's really The brilliant 2!

Enter the Overlook Hotel again by viewing the trailer below.

Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson direct the casting. McGregor is the adult version of Danny Torrance, while Ferguson plays Rose the Hat.

Carl Lumbly plays Dick Hallorann with Alex Essoe like Wendy Torrance in following the story of The brilliant. Kyliegh Curran has been interpreted as Abra Stone, a girl who has the gift of 'The Shining'. Bruce Greenwood plays the role of Dr. John. Alyn Lind is Snakebite Andi, with Jocelin Donahue and Jacob Tremblay also featuring.

In Sleep doctorStill irretrievably marked by the trauma he endured in Overlook as a child, Dan Torrance struggled to regain some semblance of peace. But this peace is broken when he meets Abra, a brave teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as "shine". Acknowledging instinctively that Dan shares his power, Abra looked for him, desperate for his help against the ruthless Rose, the Hat and his followers, The True Knot, who feed on the brilliance of innocent people in their quest of immortality.

Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra embark on a brutal battle for life or death with Rose. Abra's innocence and his daring fearlessness forces Dan to use his own powers like never before: he must immediately face his fears and awaken the ghosts of the past.

The film was produced by Trevor Macy and Jon Berg. Roy Lee, Scott Lumpkin, Akiva Goldsman and Kevin McCormick also served as Executive Producers. Flanagan adapted the novel.

Sleep doctor hits the theaters on November 8, 2019.
