If you crashed Election and Rushmore and then sprinkled Ryan Murphy brand sass on the mark, this could look a lot like Netflix's upcoming comedy The politician… and we love what we see.
Netflix has released a new trailer for the first Murphy's series for the streamer – which you can watch above – which features Tony's winner, Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen) as a hyper-motivated high school student, Payton Hobart, who is determined to win the race for the presidency of the student body. (He even recruits a cancer patient as a vice-presidential candidate to win the sympathy vote.) Payton "intends" to one day be president of the United States, and his desire to succeed is a bit intense: " Your ambition scares me, "Mother Georgina (played by Gwyneth Paltrow) admits.
The combative campaign that ensues contains a ton of scandalous rumors, a possible assassination attempt (!) And a charming Jessica Lange wondering what's wrong with calling a homosexual man "A moron": celebrate Halloween. "(Yes, if you can not already say it, it is certainly a Ryan Murphy production.)
In addition, Netflix has released the official poster of the series of eight episodes. Payton and Georgina promised, "We promise you to promise everything."
Press PLAY above to take a look at The politician – will start on Friday, September 27th on Netflix – and then click on the comments and tell us: does he already have your vote?
